Revolutionizing Office Spaces: Gul Ahmed by Yoca Pvt Ltd.

Blending Heritage and Innovation in an Award-Winning Design

The inspiration for the design was twofold: to reflect the history, elegance, and richness of a company that has grown over three generations, and to highlight the company's environmental consciousness by creating an internalised forest and green space. The result is an office space that is both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly.

The office uses unique marbles and stone, each cut and book-matched articulately to emphasize key accent walls leading into a central focal board room. The board room acts as the bridge tying the two halves of the office together. The left side houses the director suites, while the right side accommodates the management workstations. The conference room, designed to reflect a forest, is the central node of the office. To enter or leave, one must walk through a lush plantation of large trees, surrounded by delicate wood and brass lattice works.

The design team, led by Principal Architects Syed Zayd Bilgrami, Ahsan Najmi, and Sarah Najmi Bilgrami, used materials such as marble, brass, wooden paneling, and reflective PU ceiling to bring their vision to life. The project, which covers an area of 10,000 SFT, was completed in April 2016 and is located in the Centre Point Building on Korangi Road in Karachi.

One of the key challenges in realizing this design was creating a forest on the 23rd floor of an office building while still ensuring effective office space and essential requirements for conducting business. The design team overcame this challenge by maximizing natural light and views from the 23rd floor and using glass walls with delicate lattice work to emphasize an interactive work environment.

The design reflects the rich heritage of a company that has grown over three generations, showing history, elegance, and richness through the use of materials. At the same time, it highlights the company's environmental consciousness by creating an internalised forest and green space. This innovative design approach has earned the project the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018, a prestigious award granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations.
